Our detailing process combines debris removal, web and nest removal, surface-appropriate cleaning, agitation where needed, and controlled rinsing to thoroughly clean the dock while taking precautions around boats, lifts, furniture, and surrounding property.

Questions about our process?
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the cleaning products you use safe for the lake?
Protecting the surrounding waterfront is an important part of our cleaning process. We prioritize marine-focused and environmentally conscious cleaning products, including biodegradable formulations, and select products based on the dock’s materials and condition. We follow manufacturer guidelines and take precautions to minimize overspray and cleaning runoff into the water.
How does Edgewater access my dock?
Unlike traditional exterior cleaning companies, Edgewater Solutions operates from a dedicated workboat equipped for waterfront services. We typically arrive by water and secure alongside your dock, allowing us to bring our equipment directly to the work area without needing driveway access for a truck or trailer.
Do I need to move my boat before you clean the dock?
Not necessarily. We regularly plan our cleaning process around boats, lifts, and other waterfront equipment. When appropriate, we use protective coverings and take precautions to reduce exposure to cleaning products and debris. If a boat needs to be moved for safe access, we’ll discuss that with you beforehand.
What does a full dock detail include?
Our comprehensive dock detailing process addresses decking, railings, dock floats/pilings, covered areas, spider web removal/prevention, mud-dauber nests, bird residue, dirt, loose debris, and organic buildup. Depending on the dock’s condition, we use surface-appropriate cleaning products, brushing, soft washing, and controlled pressure rinsing to achieve a thorough clean.
Will pressure washing damage my dock?
Not all dock surfaces should be cleaned with the same pressure or technique. We evaluate the material and condition of your dock before selecting the appropriate cleaning method. Our process uses controlled pressure, appropriate nozzles, and manual cleaning where needed to reduce the risk of surface damage.
Do I need to provide a water source?
We typically need access to an outdoor water spigot on your property. Our workboat carries the hoses and water-management equipment needed for the job. We’re also mindful of water consumption. Our detailing process includes dry debris removal, brushing, and targeted rinsing, so water isn’t being used continuously throughout the service. While usage varies depending on your dock’s size and condition, we work efficiently to avoid unnecessary water consumption.
